A&E has announced the Season Two premiere date for its well-received contemporary Western mystery series Longmire – Wyoming Sheriff Walt Longmire returns to TV screens on Monday, May 27th at 10 pm/9 pm (EST/CST).
Longmire debuted on A&E in 2012 and is based upon the novel series of the same name, which is written by former law enforcement officer Craig Johnson. Walt Longmire (played by Robert Taylor in the TV series) is a widowed sheriff in the fictional county of Absaroka, Wyoming. Lou Diamond Phillips plays Longmire’s closest friend, a Cheyenne named Henry Standing Bear.
Longmire is assisted and at times challenged by the approaches of his three deputies; Victoria “Vic” Moretti (Katee Sackhoff), Branch Connally (Bailey Chase) and “The Ferg” (Adam Bartley). Walt’s daughter, Cady, who works for a Wyoming law firm, is played by Cassidy Freeman.

Longmire holds the distinction of A&E’s all-time highest original series premiere to date – 4.1 million viewers watched the first episode of the series. The show averaged 4 million viewers thru its 10-episode first season.
A&E has released some teaser information about the first episode of Season 2 – a prison transfer goes wrong and Walt Longmire must pursue the escapees into a mountainous region.
