Here's When Amazon's Music Streaming Service Is Coming To Australia

Amazon Echo Spot Could Be An Alarm Clock For The 21st Century

The Echo Plan is the cheapest one, offering access to the service via a single Echo, Echo Dot or Echo Plus speaker for AUD $4.99.

Although Echo's rival Google Home has had a six-month head start in Australia, arriving last year, and while Apple's Siri which predates Alexa by three years-Alexa still remain the pioneer when it comes to smart speaker technology, with the device experiencing rapid growth in the smart home market.

Alexa is Amazon's own digital assistant, the voice behind the Echo range of speakers and bitter rival of Google's own smart assistant ecosystem, now comprised of the Google Home and Google Home Mini. Music fans in both countries will have access to a catalogue of more than 45 million songs and hundreds of playlists and personalized stations.

New subscribers to Amazon Unlimited will get a free 90-day trial.

Named Westpac Banking Skill, the project has seen the development of a range of functions such as account balance updates and announcements of recent transactions, while it also enables users to receive Westpac's finance industry news bulletins.

In addition to launching their Echo speakers and Alexa assistant, Amazon will be making its music streaming service Music Unlimited available at $5 a month.

Amazon's local launch for its Alexa system will include three products, essentially ranging from small to medium to full-sized, sporting the tiny and flat Echo Dot, the regular cylinder that is the Echo, and the taller Echo Plus, and while the sound technology differs between them, all three work as a hands-free voice controlled smart speaker that can also work through Bluetooth.

Amazon's Echo Plus smart speaker is created to respond to commands and act as a hub for connected home products, like Philips Hue light bulbs. "The hipages skill for Alexa brings a new and helpful capability for Alexa customers in Australia", said Rob Pulciani, Director, Amazon Alexa. You can ask the device what the weather is like, manage calendar events, and tell it to play songs from the Unlimited Music service, among loads of other things.

George Frazis, Chief Executive, Consumer Bank says customers want a seamless banking experience that fits with their needs and complements their lifestyles.
