Sony's Phones Leak Ahead of MWC 2018

The follow up to the Sony Xperia XZ will be out next month

Blass also claims the Xperia XZ2 will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor (which will also be found in the Samsung Galaxy S9, in some regions). But, it will all change when Sony announces its two new flagship smartphones next week - the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact.

At the back, you get the same single 19MP camera with f/1.8 aperture, 4K HDR recording and super-slow motion capture as the Xperia XZ Premium, alongside a uniquely positioned fingerprint reader that will actually be functional in the U.S. for once. Both flagship phones will have Gorilla Glass 5 to protect their full-HD LCDs.

Sometime a year ago, Sony promised that its next pair of flagships would sport new, modern designs, with thinner bezels. On the rear, we can also find the circular fingerprint sensor. Unfortunately, both posts have since been deleted, which could mean they had some truths in them that came out prematurely.

Our friends over at Venture Beat have pictures and descriptions fo the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact, both of which are expected to be revealed at MWC 2018.

The XZ2 will come in four different colors - silver, pink, black and green - and has 3D glass on both sides, attached to an aluminum frame. The camera system is capable of 4K HDR recording, super slow-motion capture in full HD resolution. Like the new Xperia XA2 series, the camera is now placed in the centre instead of the edge of the corner like the past Xperia flagships.

In terms of battery, the Xperia XZ2 is said to come with a 3,180mAh capacity and it will support wireless charging. It will allegedly be running Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. In addition to these, the smartphones are speculated to pack "S Force" stereo speakers at the front which will be supported with haptic feedback system that syncs up vibrations to the sound.

As you can see, both these smartphones are boasting a display that has an aspect ratio of 18:9. The Xperia XZ Compact has a smaller 2,870mAh battery but can not be charged wirelessly.

Sony has pretty much confirmed that they will be at MWC 2018, although the question is what will they be unveiling at the event? Again, Sony's MWC event is at 2:30AM Eastern on February 26 (11:30PM Pacific, February 25).
