YouTube Apologizes for Shooting Conspiracy Video

A bizarre Parkland conspiracy video topped YouTube's trending list

"This video should never have appeared in Trending", a YouTube spokesperson told Fox News.

It used screenshots of an interview Hogg did with with CNN affiliate KCBS, in combination with other images, in an attempt to suggest that Hogg and other students are "crisis actors".

If the Alex Jones channel receives one more strike in the next three months, it will be suspended from posting new content for two weeks. A notice on the video now says, "This video has been removed for violating YouTube's policy on harassment and bullying".

The infringing video, "David Hogg Can't Remember His Lines In TV Interview", suggested the student was "coached" in interviews he gave after surviving the February 14 school shooting that resulted in 14 deaths in more than a dozen injuries.

The video went viral and prompted many conspiracy theorists to speculate as to whether Hogg was a student or an actor.

YouTube has a "three strikes" rule for terminating accounts that run afoul of its community standards.

The term refers to people who are paid to play disaster victims in emergency drills.

Alex Jones' conspiracy-theory-heavy InfoWars has been censured by YouTube for violating its policies.

Mr Hogg, one of the most outspoken survivors of the shooting, gained headlines after it emerged he had interviewed class mates while the massacre was taking place and gave an interview where he looked into the camera and urged politicians to deliver change.

CNN's article broke during Friday's live YouTube broadcast of "The Alex Jones Show", prompting a real-time reaction from the host carried across the same platform he risks being denied. Of Parkland, he acknowledges that "real people were shot".

On social media, the interview from previous year is being pointed to as "evidence" to suggest that Hogg is a "crisis actor", a regular theme of conspiracists, who believe actors appear at the sites of tragedies. He also said in a February 15 video posted on YouTube that he could "officially say that it's about a 90 percent chance" the Florida shooting was a "deep state false flag operation".
