Trump thrives on chaos; White House staff pays the price

Illinois gun owners and supporters fill out National

US President Donald Trump's son-in-law and adviser has lost access to the President's Daily Brief as the White House moves to impose greater discipline on access to secrets. Aides believed they had succeeded in getting Trump to back down and hoped to keep television cameras away from an event with industry executives so the president couldn't make a surprise announcement.

The report centered on Kushner and said that the Kushner family's real estate firm had received $500 million in total loans a year ago from two financial institutions with top executives who had met with Kushner at the White House. Citigroup also lent Kushner Cos. It raises the question as to what is the difference between the nature and extent of Mr. Kushner's dealings and the business dealings of his father-in-law.

The Washington Post reported Tuesday that officials in at least four countries had privately discussed ways they could manipulate Kushner by taking advantage of his complex business arrangements, financial difficulties and lack of foreign policy experience.

After the collapse of talks between Qatar and the Kushner Companies, the White House strongly backed a blockade against Qatar by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which accused Qatar of backing terrorism.

In a statement to The Times, a spokesman for Kushner's attorney said Kushner "has taken no part of any business, loans or projects with or for" Kushner Companies.

The DNC pointed out that the same report stated that Kushner met with foreign officials without officially disclosing the meetings or making National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster aware of them.

Upon entering the White House, Kushner sold his stake in his family's 666 5th Ave. property and divested other properties into a family trust to avoid potential conflicts of interest.

When asked whether he would fire Mueller such an investigation, Trump was noncommittal.

"That's not the real world", the president said, adding the cost increases were a "small price to pay".

The meetings reportedly took place around the time that Harris was among several US business leaders who advised Trump on financing for his $1.5 trillion plan to fix the country's ailing infrastructure.
