Black Mirror Teaser Announces Season 5

Black Mirror to terrify us all again for a fifth season on Netflix

That approach is certainly on brand for the series, and one that will likely keep audiences anticipating the show's return, but those eager to see what unfortunate, techno-nightmare future awaits them probably shouldn't hold their breath, as it may be a while before the season 5 is ready to binge. Charlie Brooker's sci-fi anthology show began life on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom before Netflix gave it a whole new life on their streaming service.

As yet, no premiere date or episode count has been revealed.

Black Mirror has officially been renewed for a fifth season. The "Be Right Back" tagline at the end is a nod to the Season 2 episode, and the clip itself is reminiscent of Season 4's "Black Museum".

There's no word on when we can expect this new chapter of Charlie's dystopian view of the future, but seasons three and four were released in 2016 and 2017 respectively, so we could be seeing the next one this year.

The report also did not indicate how many episodes there will be in the fifth season. But that seems to be par for the course with the series, which isn't always great but occasionally offers up truly fantastic episodes like "San Junipero". It'll be interesting to see what stories Brooker decides to tell and what filmmakers and actors will join him for Season 5, but I can't wait all the same. "I think even a number seven would just do us in".

There's also a Black Mirror book in the works. Such is the Black Mirror way. The book is now listed for a 2025 release date, but I have a feeling that's just a placeholder until the official date is announced.

The anthology show comes off like a more modern and much darker version of the classic "Twilight Zone" series. And creator Charlie Brooker and executive producer Annabel Jones have taken the series to new creative territory.

Fans flocked to Twitter to thank Netflix bosses for bringing the show back.
