Raiders' linebacker Aldon Smith reportedly in rehab after domestic violence incident

Oakland CA USA Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson runs with the football against Oakland Raiders outside linebacker Aldon Smith during the first quarter

Suspended Oakland Raiders player Aldon Smith has reportedly entered rehab following an alleged domestic violence incident over the weekend.

Police responded to a call on Saturday evening at a home near Union Square, but the suspect, identified as Smith, had allegedly fled before the authorities arrived, San Francisco Police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said in a statement. "No please.' ... it's an ongoing issue", a San Francisco police dispatcher told officers around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Smith, who has played for the Raiders and 49ers, has not played in the NFL since 2015 after being suspended for violating the league's substance abuse and personal conduct policies.

He was on the team's reserve/suspended list, logging only nine games for the Raiders and none since 2015.

This latest incident, if it is indeed involving Smith, is yet another problem for the once-promising pass rusher.

"I wish the best for Aldon", she said. And I'm scared for his life with his addiction.

After his August 2015 arrest and guilty plea, he was released by the 49ers.

"I can tell you this".

Smith's fiance said she is anxious about Smith and he needs help.

Since being selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, Smith has had many off the field troubles that saw him being arrested on several different occasions that included drunken driving, vandalism, and illegal possession of an assault rifle.

The Raiders hoped the Aldon Smith story would conclude on a positive note, that he would overcome issues that have derailed his personal life and career to one day realize his potential as an National Football League edge rusher. In his first two seasons, Smith racked up a combined 33.5 sacks and was named a First-Team All-Pro in 2012, notching 19.5 sacks.
