Mark Cuban passed lie detector test for 2011 sexual assault allegation

Dallas Mavericks owner and entrepreneur Mark Cuban stands during a press conference Monday Feb. 26 2018 in Dallas

Billionaire Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was investigated by police in 2011 after a woman claimed he sexually assaulted her in a Portland, OR bar, a report said late Tuesday.

The woman apparently told authorities that Cuban stuck his hand down her trousers and digitally inserted her while the two were posing for a photo in a crowded nightclub.

"I filed the report because what he did was wrong", she said. Cuban actually chose to speak at length with Portland Police Detective Brendan McGuire, who filed the report, rather than consulting an attorney first. "I stand behind that report 1,000 percent". "Cuban. This incident never happened and her accusations are false".

The revelations come two weeks after Sports Illustrated detailed years of sexual harassment and misconduct allegations within the Dallas Mavericks' organization.

"In both images, Cuban's right shoulder is lowered and he appears to be stretching to reach his arm down", the detective's report says.

In his 2011 memo, Rees wrote that investigators interviewed friends of the woman with her at the nightclub as well as employees and other patrons. "In one of the pictures, his arm can be seen behind [the alleged victim] and it appears Cuban is reaching down toward her buttocks". Ditto for then-Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love and former Blazers television reporter Lindsay McCormick, whom Cuban told police had been with him at the bar. "The complainant requested documentation and investigation of her complaint but has confirmed with me she will not participate in a criminal prosecution and agrees her claim can not be proven". For what it's worth, the alleged victim claimed Cuban seemed heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident. "In this case have you lied to your attorney in any way?"

"There is no evidence to corroborate the complainant's statement and there is evidence contradicting the claim", prosecutors wrote in a report explaining why they weren't pursuing the case, adding that the woman didn't want to proceed either.
