Security issue at Brisbane Airport

Passengers Told To Expect Serious Delays At Sydney Airport This Morning

An IT failure has caused chaos at Sydney Airport this morning with both the worldwide and domestic terminals affected.

A spokesman from Jetstar told Daily Mail Australia they are still facing delays of an hour on average, almost five hours after the issue was resolved.

'Passengers are all on the same flights [they had checked in to], they're just delayed'.

'Passengers are now being processed through security as per usual, ' a spokeswoman said.

'There will be some impact to our flights today as a result.

The Courier Mail reports a passenger set off a security screen, causing a backlog of passengers now scrambling to catch their flights.

POLICE have flocked to Brisbane International Airport to deal with an ongoing "security matter" that has caused security screenings to be cancelled.

It comes as Sydney Airport was thrown into turmoil this morning when a technical issue caused major delays to flights from terminals 1 and 2, with the airport even going as far as telling passengers to avoid the airport altogether.

Passengers are being urged to avoid these terminals as the airport staff work to resolve the issue.

"The safety and security of our passengers is our number one priority and we are pleased to say that all systems are operating as normal", an airport spokesman said in a statement.

The T3 Qantas Domestic terminal is apparently not affected.

The technical failure was resolved about 6.30am, 90 minutes after passengers were initially stranded.

Many passengers have taken to social media to share their frustration.
