"So excited to confirm the most thrilling news".

Wiig is one of our favorites, too.

But according to That Hashtag Show, the Wonder Woman sequel will feature the Barbara Ann Minerva version of Cheetah.

Circling back to Wiig's casting, and this is undoubtedly the first major coup for Wonder Woman 2.

DC Comics's first foray into the Wonder Woman universe was a box office hit, raking in more than $800 million worldwide and gaining critic and fan approval. After a few days of rumors and speculation, it was Director Patty Jenkins that confirmed the casting on Friday morning through social-media.

"SO excited by what we have planned."

". Cheetah is known for her speed and reaction time, as well as her sharp claws.

Both That Hashtag Show and Deadline confirm what has been floating around for ages about Wonder Woman 2, as well: that it will take place in the 1980s and have a Soviet Union/Cold War theme.

While Wiig has proven her talents as both a comedic and dramatic actress, one can't help but wonder if she'll have what it takes to play a villain. The "Wonder Woman" follow-up does not have an official title at this point, but the cast is finally starting to come together.

Gal Gadot returns in the titular role with Wonder Woman 2 having a November 1, 2019 release.

The character made her debut in a 1943 edition of the comics and has appeared in multiple iterations of the franchise since.
