Biplab Deb to be sworn-in as Tripura CM on Friday PM Modi expected to attend

Forty-eight-year-old Biplab Kumar Deb had staked claim before the governor on March 6 to form the government. While addressing swearing-in ceremony at the Assam Rifles ground in Agartala, he said, " The central government will provide you full support in the march towards development with the motto of cooperative federalism defined in the constitution.

The SIT led by Nath has so far arrested several people, including four TSR personnel who include TSR 2nd Battalion Commandant Tapan Debbarma, who is a senior Tripura Police Service (TPS) officer and waiting for IPS nomination.

He said that BJP had called for change of power but now it appears that they changed the peaceful Tripura into a violent state despite being elected with a huge mandate.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged the Opposition in Tripura to guide the "inexperienced" Biplab Kumar Deb with their "years of experience" in running the government.

In Tripura, chief ministers of BJP ruled states like Vijay Rupani (Gujarat), Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh), Sarbananda Sonowal (Assam), Raghubar Das (Jharkhand) attended the function as well.

Biplab, the new CM of the state, hails from Bangladesh's Chandpur.

Prime minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah, Union ministers and BJP chief ministers attended the swearing-in ceremony.

Outgoing Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar of CPI (M) also attended the event. "The polls were peaceful and for that too, the people have to be congratulated", the prime minister said.

The head administrator said the new government would bring each resident and all areas of the general public and work for the advancement of Tripura.

"New Delhi will put in same level of effort as that of the new government of Tripura for the state's welfare", the PM assured the people. We are lighting the lamp of progress and prosperity.

The BJP and its electoral ally IPFT (Indigenous People's Front of Tripura) swept the February 18 polls, winning 43 of the 59 seats. The CPI-M got 16 seats, while the Left Front partners - Communist Party of India, Congress Party, the Forward Bloc and Revolutionary Socialist Party won none.
