The high commissioner was recalled last week "for consultations" as a mark of protest over multiple incidents of harassment of diplomats and their families in India.

"We have asked for immediate resolution of these issues faced by our High Commission in Islamabad so that the safety and security of the diplomatic mission and our diplomatic and consular officials is assured", he said.

Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood has said that both India and Pakistan must give their next generations a future of hope and opportunities.

Referring to cross-border ceasefire violations President Mamnoon accused India of gross human rights violations in Kashmir.

Giving a message of goodwill to those elements opposed to peace and stability, the president said that for national peace and prosperity, it was imperative that all kinds of outer aggression, hegemony, expansionism and interference into the affairs of others should be avoided. He said that Pakistan was ready to extend a hand of co-operation to regional countries, but "taking it as a weakness will be a risky mistake".

"In the context of foreign relations especially in South Asia, Pakistan continues to follow the policy of peaceful neighbourhood and in that context, Pakistan has sought peaceful and good neighbourly relations with all countries in South Asia including India", he said.

The Indian diplomats were seen wearing caps inscribed as "23 March, Pakistan Day" and watching the military parade.

Saying that the global political system had changed, the president said the present era demands that one should move forward by subscribing to the principle of peaceful coexistence and keeping in consideration the legitimate interests of the others.

India has repeatedly requested Pakistan to mutually ensure that High Commissions are allowed to do their job in an atmosphere free of harassment and intimidation, that staff be allowed to work.

Now, New Delhi has gone a step further by refusing to issue visas to Pakistanis who wanted to visit India in connection with Urs of Hazrat Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti.

He said that Pakistan seeks such relation on the basis of the equality and mutual respect.
