Facebook Hits Targeted Ads

People Have Found Facebook Logged All Their Private Messages And Call History

According to Facebook less cluttered menu is also easier to find in new Privacy Shortcuts menu. The company has been in damage-control mode over the past week, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg expressing his remorse for what he has called a "breach of trust" in media interviews and in a newspaper advertising campaign in the United States and United Kingdom.

The social-media giant is under scrutiny for its data-privacy practices following the revelation that Cambridge Analytica scraped data from 50 million Facebook users, which it reportedly used to influence US elections.

A new Privacy Shortcuts menu will give clearer explanations of how the platform's controls work, the firm said.

The scandal has caused Facebook to delay the unveiling of new home products and redesign its privacy settings.

The Mark Zuckerberg-led social media giant has lost around $70 billion in the market since the revelation of the data breach.

Facebook banned the app and also demanded that both Cambridge Analytica and the researcher delete all of the data they collected. Instead of having settings spread across almost 20 different screens, they're now accessible from a single place. It has suspended Cambridge Analytica from its network and said in a blog post that the British company had received user data through an app developer in violation of Facebook policy.

Manage who sees your posts and profile information: Users have the ultimate rights on what they share on Facebook, and he/she can manage things like who sees their posts and the information they choose to include on their profile. Facebook had assured users that third-party applications only had access to data required for them to function, while, in fact, the applications had access to nearly all of a user's personal information. The company has not said exactly what it used such data for or why it needed it.

If you have reached the end of the road on Facebook and feel like it no longer serves a meaningful objective in your life, perhaps it's time to delete your account.

Facebook said on Sunday that it does not collect the content of calls or text messages, and that information is securely stored.

Settings also allows you to change who can see your posts, tag you in photos, what ads are targeted to you, and disable facial recognition. Users can delete anything from their timeline or profile if they want.

The letter sent to Facebook noted that it has largest footprint in India in terms of user base and sought its reply on proactive measures being taken by the company to ensure safety, security and privacy of such large user data and to prevent its misuse by any third party.

At the time, Facebook allowed Kogan to collect the data for academic use specifically.

Facebook said it will conduct an in-depth review of its platform in the coming days.

Facebook says they offer this feature in order to make it easier to stay in touch with your contacts, without having to add each person individually.
