If convicted of any of the three charges, Cosby could face up to a decade behind bars.
Cosby, now 80, is accused of drugging and molesting Andrea Constand, then operations manager of the women's basketball team at Temple University, where Cosby was a proud alum.
Bill Cosby's retrial kicked off on Monday morning with its share of protesters, including a former Cosby Show actress who was arrested for a topless protest.
The allegations against Cosby stretch back more than a decade, but the trial takes place in a cultural moment vastly different from the one in which the first trial took place previous year.
"The main goal was to make Cosby uncomfortable because that is exactly what he has been doing for decades to women", Rochelle said after being charged, WHYY reported.
In one dramatic moment, Steele urged jurors to "listen to the testimony that she did not say 'yes'". A judge declared a mistrial in June after jurors could not agree on a unanimous decision on any charge. "Cosby is now the poster boy for how sexual assault is silenced, hidden and not dealt with in our society".
Ms Lasha is one of five additional women allowed to testify as part of an effort to portray the entertainer as one of Hollywood's biggest predators.
Constand, 44, claims she considered Cosby a father figure and professional mentor when she visited him at his estate to discuss her career.
The defense has also moved to strike one juror from the trial for being allegedly overheard saying: "I just think he's guilty, so we can all be done and get out of here".

She filed a lawsuit after another district attorney declined to prosecute Cosby.
The demonstrator, Nicolle Rochelle, had "women's lives matter" scrawled on her chest and the names of Cosby's accusers across her body when she jumped out of the crowd outside the Norristown courthouse.
Shouting "Women's Lives Matter", which was also written on her body along with "Cosby Rapist", the woman hopped the fence and ran topless toward Cosby at 8:35 a.m.as he was being escorted into the courthouse. While jurors couldn't agree on a unanimous decision during his first trial previous year, it has been speculated that this time around would be much different.
The trial is expected to last about a month at Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown, Pennsylvania, a Philadelphia suburb.
She had been planning on attending other protests during the trial, but the Montgomery County authorities recommend she stay away from the courthouse.
Rochelle has been outspoken about the allegations against Cosby, who's been accused by at least 60 women of drugging and sexually assaulting them.
The defence team, headed by Tom Mesereau, best known for successfully defending singer Michael Jackson at his 2005 child molestation trial, has said that Cosby denies all allegations and any sexual encounters were consensual.
Reality TV actress and former supermodel Janice Dickinson may be one of those prior acts witnesses, according to her attorney Lisa Bloom.
Before Cosby's last trial, which ended in a hung jury, Judge Steven O'Neill permitted the prosecution to read portions of deposition from the civil case in which Cosby admitted to giving women quaaludes before having sex with them.
