FIFA 18 World Cup DLC Will Be Free And Will Roll Out On May 29

It's barely more than a month till the real World Cup starts in Russian Federation, but things will begin a few weeks early in FIFA 18 as EA unveil the game's free World Cup mode.

The free update will be released on May 29, 2018, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Beginning on May 29, players will be able to have a full World Cup experience, complete with authentic teams, stadiums, kits, badges, the Official Match Ball and Official Winner's Trophy, and more FIFA World Cup elements.

The men's football World Cup starts this June, and fans of the handsome game now have an official video game to get themselves warmed up for the biggest sporting tournament in the world.

You can check out a new trailer promoting this update below. New Icons are promised, with the chemistry system tweaked so you need to link players according to nationality and federation rather than club and league. As an added bonus for FUT players, every Standard or Premium pack purchased in FIFA World Cup Ultimate will grant the equivalent pack value in FUT 18.

No English officials will be among the 13 video assistant referees (VARs) taking part in the World Cup this summer, with Federation Internationale de Football Association citing a lack of preparation and experience as the main reason why they were not selected. In the past, special standalone editions of the franchise were produced specifically for the tournament, such as 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. These player items will receive upgraded stats, ensuring that FIFA World CupTM Ultimate Team offers a fresh and relevant experience for the entire tournament.
