Porn Star Stormy Daniels Files New Defamation Suit Against President Donald Trump

Stormy Daniels in her interview with Anderson Cooper to be broadcast on 60 MINUTES Sunday March 25 on the CBS Television Network

Adult film actor Stormy Daniels, who publicly claimed a 2006 sexual encounter with United States President Donald Trump, has filed a defamation suit against him, escalating the ongoing legal battle.

Today, she filed a defamation suit in court in NY.

Cohen has admitted paying Dollars 130,000 to Clifford - a payment the porn star says was made to keep her quiet just days before the November 2016 presidential vote.

Stormy says Trump's tweet about the "nonexistent man" who threatened her counts was 'false and defamatory'.

Cohen has been under major legal scrutiny ever since the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided his offices in order to investigate the potential illegalities involved in his hush money payment to Stormy Daniels.

Cohen did not work for Trump's 2016 campaign and it is illegal for a campaign under FEC rules to spend funds on personal matters, so these allegations are serious.

Daniels' new lawsuit is not to be confused with the one she previously filed against Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen.

In the suit, Clifford said that Trump made "false and defamatory" statements about her in an April 18 tweet. The president went on to say that Avenatti and Daniels were "playing the fake news media for fools". Clifford claimed she was threatened in a Las Vegas parking lot after agreeing to an interview with "In Touch" magazine about her alleged affair with Trump. She offered a $100,000 reward for information about him.

She says the man told her to "leave Trump alone, forget the story".

Ms Daniels alleges that she became friendly with Mr Trump when he offered a place on U.S. version of The Apprentice.

Michael Avenatti filed Daniels' latest lawsuit today in federal court in NY.

Her attorney Michael Avenatti said: "We intend on teaching Mr. Trump that you can not simply make things up about someone and disseminate them without serious consequences".

On Friday, a Los Angeles judge put Daniels' lawsuit to end that agreement on hold for 90 days, saying it might threaten Cohen's constitutional right against self-incrimination.

Ms Daniels has also accused Mr Cohen of defamation over a separate statement he made in February.
