Kim Jong-un meets China foreign minister

Korea's presidential office Cheong Wa Dae President Moon Jae-in is seen holding a telephone conversation with his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump

The newspaper reported that Trump is preparing ahead for a peaceful outcome after planned talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Wang also told Kim that China supports efforts to bring a formal end to the Korean War, which was halted with an armistice, not a peace treaty, and North Korea's "shift of strategic focus to building its economy".

Even as Washington presses for the release of the three American prisoners, the parents of a U.S. college student who died previous year soon after being release from captivity in North Korea have sued Pyongyang over their son's death, saying Otto Warmbier was "brutally tortured and murdered".

And speaking to Fox News on Sunday, U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton said releasing the hostages would be "an opportunity" for the North to "demonstrate their authenticity". However, U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis appeared to say the issue might be open to discussion.

They were relocated, according to media reports, to a hotel near Pyongyang, which is seen as a sign that a release is about to be announced.

Trump isn't the only official who's suggested it's time to rethink the USA presence in South Korea. "Stay tuned!" he tweeted.

CNN, citing an unnamed source, said on Thursday the prisoners' release was imminent, adding the groundwork for the move was laid two months ago when North Korea's foreign minister traveled to Sweden and proposed the idea.

The United States has been demanding the North free Kim Hak-song, Kim Sang-duk and Kim Dong-chul and reports have said the two sides were close to reaching a deal on their release. He reportedly ran a trade and hotel service company in Rason, a special economic zone on North Korea's border with Russian Federation. He had been teaching accounting at the Pyongyang University of Science and Technology known as PUST.

Kim Hak Song, an ethnic Korean who was born in China, was detained in May 2017 and also accused of "hostile acts".

The last time any American official had met with the Korean-Americans was in June 2017.

The third detainee, 60-something Kim Dong Chul, of Fairfax, Va., was sentenced to 10 years in prison and hard labor in April 2016.

The North has historically railed against the the US's presence and threatened to retaliate against the annual joint military exercises between the USA and the South.
