Everything to know about Apple's macOS 10.14 Mojave

macOS 10.14 getting dark mode, Apple News, and possibly cross-device apps

The redesign is similar to the changes to the iOS 11 App Store, highlighted by new editorial content for app discovery. Another iOS feature Apple is making available for MacOS is the redesigned App Store. The macOS Mojave can make everything dark with white text-in line with most modern day apps and software.

Apple states that this will be applied across the entire OS and will be applied to native apps such as Mail, Messages, Maps, Calendar and Photos.

Perhaps one of the most useful new features is called Stacks, which instantly cleans up the Desktop by moving cluttered files that can become scattered across the screen into neat piles around the side of the display. However, the users can customize their Stacks by altering file properties like date and tags.

For the first time ever, apps like News, Stocks, Voice Memos, and Home are available on Mac.

In addition to the above, you'll also be able to fiddle with your notifications from your lock screen and notification center. It's a part of a multi-year project that Apple is giving a sneak preview in as a part of the new apps in the Mojave upgrade. The Mac App Store will also gain new video previews as well as a more prominent ratings and reviews section.

The Mac App Store is a ghost town of limited selection and Apple customers have long complained that some Mac apps get short shrift.

On Monday, at the 2018 WWDC conference in San Jose, CA, Apple leaders unveiled Mojave, version 10.14 of its macOS operating system. Its commercial name is macOS Mojave and the biggest novelty is the implementation of a dark theme in macOS.

Apple News is also coming to macOS.

Apple's "ARKit 2" enables developers to create innovative AR apps, with new tools to integrate shared experiences, persistent AR experiences tied to a specific location, object detection and image tracking.

A public macOS Mojave beta arrives later this month, which allows anyone to install the beta and test out new features. Like with iOS 12, there aren't any major jaw dropping additions to the mix with macOS Mojave (10.14). New Quick Actions will let users create and password-protect PDFs and run custom Automator Actions on files right from Finder. The company is moving from mountains to deserts and therefore, has named the new update a desert in California, Mojave and no, I'm honestly not aware how it's pronounced but I'm sure we'll figure it out soon. Users will be able to lock down access to their camera, location, microphone, cookies, messaging history, and more. Your digital fingerprint derived through configuration, fonts and plug-ins installed, will be harder to track with macOS Mojave-Apple will reduce the data that websites will get access to, making it harder to identify your device and track you.

In enhancements to Safari's dramatic tracking detection, Apple is closing the loophole that let things like share buttons and comment fields track users automatically.
