They shared a carriage from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade where they witnessed almost 1,500 troops perform a military display as part of the official Queen's birthday celebrations.

Trooping the Colour and the day in Cheshire represent the beginning of the busy royal summer season.

Prince Harry and Meghan tied the knot on May 19.

The royal couple will be following in the footsteps of Harry's parents, the Prince of Wales and Diana, whose first royal tour as a married couple was also to Australia and New Zealand.

From allegedly breaking royal protocol by wearing an off-the-shoulder dress, to making her first appearance on the balcony at Buckingham Palace alongside the royal family, Meghan first Trooping the Colour was idyllic.

She also received some help from Samantha Cohen, an Australian-born palace adviser who has worked closely with the Queen. Although she celebrated her real birthday on April 21, Saturday marked the official birthday of the Sovereign, the Daily Mail points out.

The queen is then joined by other members of the royal family on the balcony at Buckingham Palace before a 41-gun salute is fired to mark the occasion.

Of course, the little girl loosened her control over her younger cousin and enjoyed the event as well at times.

Meghan Markle and the Queen will head to Cheshire for a series of royal engagements together on Wednesday 13 June.

Meghan, who claimed to have whispered "I'm nervous" to Prince Harry, cut an elegant figure in a baby pink ensemble with matching headpiece.

Another social-media user wrote, "I'm afraid neither the dress nor the hair are appropriate and she knows it".

Meghan Markle stood out from the Queen, Kate Middleton and Camilla Parker Bowles as she was the only one who did not wear blue. However, the Mayo News confirmed the Royals were not staying at the famous Ashford Castle in County Mayo since it was booked for a corporate event, reports RTE.
