Portugal 1-0 Morocco

Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo superfans from far and wide descended on Moscow on Wednesday to watch their idol lead Portugal to a 1-0 win against Morocco in their World Cup Group B game at Luzhniki Stadium.

The 33-year-old scored a first half header in four minute for Portugal against the Lions of the Atlas.

The European champions took the lead in the fourth minute when Cristiano Ronaldo charged into the box to bury his header and become Europe's top global scorer with 85 goals.

By scoring a hat-trick in his opening game, Ronaldo equalled his World Cup tally from each of the previous three tournaments, having scored only once at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cups.

Portugal will play their last group game against Iran while Morocco face Spain, both on June 25.

Ronaldo now has 85 goals for Portugal, more than any other player in history.

Cristiano Ronaldo single-handedly earned his side a point, but this is a game where he may not need to be quite so outstanding to get three points.

This is the World Cup, where the handsome game is showcased, and there is no place for attacks like this with kids watching from home.

After a coming together with Diego Costa in Portugal's opener with Spain, the former Real Madrid centre-back was accused of diving following a pat on the back from Medhi Benatia in Moscow. Let us know in the comments section below.

Morocco, in their first finals appearance for 20 years, regrouped well and showed some real positivity in attack with Hakim Ziyech and Nordin Amrabat seeing plenty of the ball.

Morocco boss Herve Renard revealed that he has not prepared a special plan to stop Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo continued his sensational start to the World Cup with the victor as Portugal knocked Morocco out of the tournament.

Its clearest shooting chances fell to a defender, Benatia, who could not keep them on target.

Portugal's misses mattered little, however, as the European champions secured their first win of Russian Federation 2018.
