Trump Pushing US Army to Invade Iran: Top General

War with Iran is the mother of all wars, Rouhani tells Trump

President Trump, in a tweet in capital letters late Sunday night, warned Iranian President Hassan Rouhani that if Iran threatened the United States again, it would face severe consequences, as Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the United States would step up broadcasts into Iran that could destabilize the country's theocratic rulers.

President Donald Trump on Sunday hit back at bellicose comments by Iran's president, warning him of dire consequences as the United States intensifies its campaign against the Islamic republic.

More than half a dozen current and former officials said the campaign, supported by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and national security adviser John Bolton, is meant to work in concert with U.S. President Donald Trump's push to economically throttle Iran by re-imposing tough sanctions. "Iranians want to be governed with dignity, accountability and respect", he said. He was referring to Iran's special forces and Revolutionary Guards.

Following Trump's decision to quit the historic Iran nuclear pact on May 8, the United States vowed to re-impose sanctions lifted under the accord against Iran and inflict punishments like secondary sanctions on nations that have business links with Iran.

Roozbeh Farahanipour, 47, an anti-regime dissident who left Iran for the United States in 1999 and advocates for the overthrow of the country's religious leaders, was in the audience on Sunday and said that he thought Pompeo was trying to strong-arm Tehran.

In a direct message to Iranian President Hassan Rohani on Twitter, US President Donald Trump has issued a hostile warning to Iran amid escalating tension between two countries.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said at the weekend that the U.S. was not afraid to sanction top-ranking leaders of the "nightmare" Iranian regime, pursuing a strategy aimed at Iranian compliance with stringent USA demands. Many of them fled Iran after the revolution that brought Iran's ayatollahs to power.

Supporters of Iran likened the United States measures to alleged foreign campaigns to interfere in the 2016 United States presidential election, spreading the hashtag #StopMeddlingInIran on Twitter.

In a move sure to anger Tehran, Pompeo announced that the USA government is launching a 24-hour television, radio and digital information channel in Farsi to broadcast American propaganda across Iran.

Iran faces the possibility of more US pressure and "looming sanctions", according to the report.

"Those who fear this insane president's psychological warfare will know that America will not be content with anything less than our annihilation", said Gheypour. Some experts say Kim is using diplomacy as a way to win outside concessions and weaken USA -led global sanctions.

The context is the tussle over the future of Iran's oil exports.

But he said the Iranian "people and the armed forces will stand up against our enemies and will not come up short".

Pompeo has expressed support for the protesters on several occasions, including in a June 21 tweet.

"America is threatening the Iranian people with its sanctions and our government is doing the same with its incompetence and mismanagement", said the self-employed 35-year-old.
