'Total jerk' fan steals game ball off little boy

Two Cubs fans are getting a lot of slack after taking a ball that was thrown to a kid

That unwritten rule is apparent at every baseball game, which is why there's such outrage whenever a ball is "stolen" from a child.

On a foul ball hit on the first-base side, Cubs first-base coach Will Venable picked up the baseball and tossed it to a young boy sitting in the front row with his mother.

"He had already helped that kid get a ball", reported one fan in attendance.

Just a little under an hour after the foul ball robbery, the Cubs posted a tweet with the kid in question, who was surprised with a game-used ball - and another ball signed by Cubs infielder Javier Baez.

However, another fan at the game testified for the fan that took the ball in the first place, saying that this man was acting as some kind of baseball Robin Hood. That's what the Cubs are saying after a grown man stole a baseball literally right from under a little boy at a game this weekend.

When a greedy adult robbed one tiny supporter of a day to remember by nicking a ball thrown straight to him, the pride quickly rallied around.

You may have noticed that the kid has two baseballs.

This was later confirmed by NBC Chicago's David Kaplan. "The man who grabbed the ball on the widely seen video had actually already helped the little boy get a ball earlier. All is well. Guy is A-OK so let it go people", Kaplan said. "The fact of the matter is, he got balls for three kids". "The only reason I got involved at all is because the story was so wrong".
