Manchester United offer a £65m deal for England star

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial has left Manchester United's summer tour of the United States to be present at the birth of his second child.

Martial is ready to quit United after his agent revealed last month that the 22-year-old wanted to leave in search of regular football.

"The first season when I came, I didn't realise how big a step up it was".

Martial's future at United is now in doubt with the player's agent revealing his wishes to leave due to a lack of playing time under Mourinho. "Honestly, I feel really good and I'm raring to go, and the minutes [on tour] are only going to help me become fitter".

"I think sometimes it is hard to get to know him as a person, as a character because of the way he is".

He wants to stay at Old Trafford, but only if he is playing games.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw believes he has a body type similar to that of the club's former striker Wayne Rooney and said criticism of his body and conditioning was unwarranted.

Gibson made 50 appearances for Boro last season, scoring once.

Recent reports have linked Martial with a move away from United, with clubs such as Juventus and Real Madrid said to be chasing his signature.

Injuries to Antonio Valencia and new signing Diogo Dalot mean Ashley Young and Victor Lindelof, who are on holiday following their World Cup exploits, could be rushed back to full fitness for the Premier League opener against Leicester City on August 10.

The manager did address the matter after Man United's clash with AC Milan on Wednesday night, and confirmed that Martial had given him just three days' notice before leaving for Paris.

"I think I've been unlucky because I've had a few ups and downs with different managers and sometimes people don't think I'm as fit as I am".

"We will see what happens".

"To play for probably the best club in the world is a good thing, and for me, it's an honour to play here and play for Manchester United". "But for the first two matches we have to fight for the points because we need the points, so that is what we are going to do with the players that we have available".
