Fortnite for Android not officially available on Play Store: Google

How To Get Android 9 Pie Digital Wellbeing Feature On Essential Phone, OnePlus 6 Right Now

According to the developer, this decision was made in part to bypass the 30% "store tax" that would normally be applied to purchases made on Google Play. They also display the message that "Fortnite Battle Royal by Epic Games, Inc is not available on Google Play", this not only includes a silly typo but its the first time Google has went out to inform users that an app is not available on Google Play.

The Fortnite beta for Android was announced yesterday during the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2018 event by Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney. Pirated and stolen versions of apps are often released via APK's. The game is available on PC and Mac, home consoles like Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, and even launched on iOS earlier in March for iPhone and iPad users.

Epic Games and Samsung also provided a list of devices that will be compatible with Fortnite Beta. Apple doesn't allow app downloads from anywhere but the official App Store on its mobile devices.

This information came from Reddit users (via 9to5google), where quite a few comments posted that when someone searches for "Fortnite" or "Fortnite Battle Royale", or a few other derivatives, Google Play prompts with a message instead of showing results.

The reason the company behind Fortnite has chose to release the game on Android without the Play store is simple: money.

If more developers follow Epic's path, then the road to unauthorized and potentially harmful downloads on Android devices will only widen. Fortnite Android is one of - if not the - most talked about apps available today, and the battle royale trend has been around for a while.
