First 'Game Of Thrones' Season 8 Footage Debuts In New HBO Promo

While they hug, Sansa gives the stink eye over Jon's shoulder at some who's off-camera.

Game Of Thrones is expected to return to screens in early 2019 - although it's still not clear precisely when.

The reunion will be welcomed by Thrones fans, as Sansa and Arya Stark both met up after seasons apart in the last batch of episodes. While most of the GoT footage in the video comes from previous episodes, there are a couple of shots from the show's upcoming final season. "So we'll still have quite a lot to do on Season 8 when they're beginning".

The deadline for the 2019 award show is May 31, which Bauer suggests the new series will not have aired in time to qualify for.

The show is nominated for 22 awards at the 2018 Emmy Awards. The season could still start in May if this were the case, but would then air most of its six episodes in June, or it could even be a June start, which would just still fit with Bloys saying it's in the first half of 2019.

More news: Turnbull remains Liberal leader, holding off challenge from Peter Dutton

The post production supervisor went on to say his schedule is locked in until next May for the mammoth task of finishing off Game of Thrones too. "The situation changes every week".

That makes a summer debut pretty likely, and while the news is probably a bit of a bummer for Game of Thrones fans, it's likely only an extra month or two they'll have to wait.

Lead characters Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and her half-brother Jon Snow (Kit Harington) appear in one scene, while Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) appears to dodge an axe swung by Gendry (Joe Dempsie) in another.

"It's an ending I don't think many people will be expecting and I think, on reflection, people will really, really enjoy", Dempsie said, according to Metro.

Game of Thrones prequel Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.
