Lego Creates Driveable Life-Size Bugatti Chiron

The engine generates 5.3 horse power, an estimated torque of 92 Nm, and 0.0 jigawatts.

Lego showcased the creative possibilities of its Technic line by building a full-scale, working replica of a Bugatti Chiron luxury vehicle.

It will be showcased at this weekend's Formula One Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

The most impressive recent example is a full-scale Lego Technic Bugatti Chiron. The first ever transparent LEGO Technics elements were used in the auto and no glue was used at all in the making of the vehicle.

The Lego Technic incarnation follows a smaller-scale model that was launched in June, which you can buy from the Lego shop for £329.99 (Dh1,578).

The $3 million Bugatti Chiron is the kind of sports auto that makes gearheads swoon. It's just about as one-to-one as you can get with building blocks.

We're wondering, then, what LEGO might charge for this full-size working replica of the thing, which the company's engineers in the Czech Republic developed over the course of 13,000 hours, or about 19 months. What's more, it was even taken for a spin by official Bugatti test driver, Andy Wallace, who drove the OG Chiron when it was still in development. Over 1 million individual LEGO components went into the build, including over 2,300 individual LEGO Power Functions motors, ganged together to produce enough power to move this 3,300 pound replica. "Driving the LEGO Chiron was a great experience, which I thoroughly enjoyed".

"From about 20 metres away it's not obvious that you are looking at a Lego model", he said. "All those years ago I could never have imagined that one day I would actually drive a Lego vehicle!" You know you want to be the first person to test-live in a LEGO castle - don't try and tell us that you don't.
