John Legend EGOT achieved as he wins Emmy for Jesus Christ Superstar

Chrissy Teigen is gonna have to move her Revolve Award, because John Legend is officially a showbiz superstar.

The "Ordinary People" singer on Sunday won the Creative Arts Emmys for his role in NBC's "Jesus Christ Superstar, Live in Concert".

Speaking with ET over the summer, Legend admitted it would be "pretty incredible" if he were to become an EGOT victor.

On September 9, NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert won a 2018 Emmy Award in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category, propelling composer Andrew Lloyd Webber onto a list of artists who have achieved EGOT status, receiving Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards.

Legend joins an elite club of only 15 stars to win in competitive categories at each of showbiz's biggest awards shows: Emmys, Grammys, Oscars and Tonys. He won an Oscar in 2015 for his song "Glory" from the movie Selma, and followed that with a Tony in 2017 for producing the Broadway musical Jitney.

"Being a part of Jesus Christ Superstar was one of my favourite experiences in my career", Legend said in a statement following the nominations.

This is the first time that more than two people have achieved an EGOT in a single year.

Her caption read, "And I say hey, what a wonderful kind of day" - a not-so-thinly-veiled reference to the theme song for the TV show Arthur.

Legend is the first black man to win an EGOT, though Whoopi Goldberg became the first black person to win an EGOT in 2002, when she won an Emmy.

Model Chrissy Teigen, Legend's wife, posted a sweet video of her husband putting his Emmy at the top of his display of awards. Legend is the first black man to complete the EGOT and ties Robert Lopez as the youngest man to earn the distinction.

"Perfect", Teigen could be heard saying after Legend placed his latest award.
