Trump Administration shuts down DC's headquarters of the Palestine Liberation Organization

Trump administration to threaten ICC judges with sanctions, prosecution

The Palestinians announced a fresh push against Israel at the International Criminal Court on Tuesday, a day after the United States said it was closing their Washington mission partly over the campaign.

The U.S. State Department announced the decision on Monday, saying the office - which also serves as a Palestinian embassy - "will be closed at this point".

Bolton's speech, on the eve of the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, came as an ICC judge was expected to soon announce a decision on a request from prosecutors to formally open an investigation into allegations of war crimes committed by Afghan national security forces, Taliban and Haqqani network militants, and USA forces and intelligence in Afghanistan since May 2003.

He added that specialized Palestinian teams are now looking into Palestine's accession into 18 global organizations, and holding deliberations to approach the worldwide Court of Justice against the recent USA moves towards Jerusalem and the Palestinian refugees. Just last month, it canceled more than $200 million in aid for projects in the West Bank and Gaza as well as the remainder of its planned assistance for the United Nations agency that helps Palestinian refugees around the Middle East. Jordan, a USA ally, said the decision would only fuel radicalism and harm prospects for Middle East peace.

This move also follows the State Department's announcement last August that the administration is slashing more than $200 million in bilateral aid to the Palestinians following a review that President Trump ordered to ensure the spending was aligned with US national interests.

"The United States made the right decision to close the PLO offices", Netanyahu said.

Despite the mistrust, 53 per cent of respondents still support the idea of an independent Palestinian state in areas captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast war, while only 24 per cent backed a solution of one state of Israelis and Palestinians together.

In response to the mission closure, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesperson for P.A. leader Mahmoud Abbas, said the core issues of Jerusalem and the right for Palestinians to live inside Israel as alleged former refugees "are more important than the relationship with the United States".

"The Americans have damaged their credibility such that they are destroying any chance to convince Palestinian leaders to bring their constituents around to whatever idea they have". They have since rejected the U.S.as peace broker. -Israeli ties, Washington had tried to position itself as a neutral party in the vexing Mideast conflict, willing to call out both sides when they take steps seen as contrary to the pursuit of peace.

Israel says Khan al-Ahmar was illegally built and has offered to resettle residents 12 kilometers (7 miles) away. "Israel supports the American steps which are meant to clarify to the Palestinians that refusing to negotiate and trying to attack Israel in worldwide forums will not advance peace", Netanyahu said.

"The U.S. administration has begun to attack the rights of the Palestinian people and worldwide law", Maliki said at a meeting of the Arab League in Cairo, convened to discuss the issue.
