Loki, Scarlet Witch Getting Own Series On Disney's Streaming Service

Loki and Scarlet Witch could be getting their own TV shows

Disney is apparently dipping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe roster to launch its new streaming service, with shows on certain heroes reportedly in the pipeline.

The shows are also expected to have a big budget that will rival other major studio productions. They've got plenty of other series and original movies lined up, as well, but the big question has been where Marvel fits in. The report states that they will be roughly six to eight episodes in length.

At this time, it isn't known what the stories will be, or where in the MCU timeline they will air. Add in the fact that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is about to air its final season and Inhumans was D.O.A., and the writing seems to be on the wall.

Marvel and Disney had no comment.

Disney's new streaming video service needs some heroes, but it's turning to some former Marvel villains who have been drawn to the light. The idea is to allow characters who haven't yet gotten their own standalone movies the chance to shine, and it's not expected that characters like Captain America or Iron Man would appear. Disney is also developing movies - like a live-action Lady and the Tramp - and a $100 million Star Wars series from Jon Favreau. Further details beyond that haven't been revealed, and it's unclear as yet when these shows will take place, but again, this is big, big news and makes it very clear just how serious the Mouse House is about their new streaming service. Will Loki and Scarlet Witch shows carry enough weight to hook viewers? Unlike the Marvel shows over on Netflix, these shows will have Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige heavily involved and they will feature the actors that played the characters in the movies.

The hope I have is that, with a show all her own, Wanda can finally shine as the character she is meant to be-and also, more Elizabeth Olsen content would be delightful.

Disney Play is expected to launch sometime in 2019. Absolutely. Both Loki and Scarlet Witch have enough of a fan following to draw audiences in, and when you throw in the fact that Hiddleston and Olsen are reprising their roles, it sweetens the deal.
