Josh Allen guides Bills to big upset of Vikings with legs, guts

The 0-2 Bills are off to a rough start in 2018, and are expected to be in tough against the undefeated Vikings. The only more lopsided loss was a 34-6 beating against Indianapolis late in the 2016 season. Most teams are due to notch a clunker every so often, but the way the Vikings defense unraveled against Buffalo - in large part due to its own mistakes - is something this usually sharp defense is unaccustomed to. This team has Super Bowl aspirations, although there was no evidence on display Sunday that the Vikings are that sort of team. And it kept getting worse.

The Vikings were heavily favored going into Sunday's matchup with the winless Buffalo Bills. By halftime, it was 27-0, and Buffalo had outgained the Vikings 245-46. Allen continued to show athleticism and growing confidence you look for in a seventh overall pick making his first National Football League road start in a very loud stadium.

Allen, the seventh overall pick in the draft out of Wyoming who took the job earlier than expected in relief of a struggling Nathan Peterman in the opener, completed 15 of 22 passes for 196 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown pass to wide-open tight end Jason Croom.

McCoy, 30, has rushed for just 61 yards and no touchdowns through the first two games of the season. C Russell Bodine, who started in place of Ryan Groy, limped off with leg cramps in the third quarter. The ball was bobbled by running back Latavius Murray and linebacker Matt Milano picked it off while on his back. Murray had one yard rushing on two carries, and the Vikings had just 14 yards rushing as a team.

Vikings: In addition to Cook and DE Everson Griffen (knee), backup TE David Morgan (knee) and PR Marcus Sherels (ribs) were held out. The rookie quarterback making his first road start saw an opening on third and 9. CB Trae Waynes (ankle) left in the first quarter and didn't return. The Vikings offense didn't cross midfield until the second half and didn't get on the scoreboard until there were under three minutes left to play in the game.
