Magical David Silva makes equaliser and scores victor to save Manchester City

Sergio Aguero and Pep Guardiola

Justin Hoogma made a good impression but he couldn't prevent Hoffenheim from losing 2-1 to Manchester City in the Champions League.

David Silva then grabbed the victor for Pep Guardiola's side with just three minutes left in the game as he dispossessed Stefan Posch inside the box and blasted home.

Hoffenheim were not fazed and continued to run at the City defence.

There is still plenty of action to follow in Group F and there is now a realistic chance of City winning the group, but will have to work hard against three sides that have already shown how capable they are.

When central midfielder Kerem Demirbay spotted a hole in the City defence, his pass put Ishak Belfodil clear to fire past goalkeeper Ederson to the delight of the home fans.

Sergio Aguero equalized minutes later with a simple finish after Germany winger Leroy Sane capped a good team move to set the Argentine up.

The Germans had a huge let-off on 14 minutes when England's Raheem Sterling held off his marker and dribbled across goal, but his final shot went wide.

Somehow, it remained 1-1 at the break as repeated City chances went begging.

The second goal arrived midway through the first half, with Dybala firing home from close range after Blaise Matuidi's initial effort was saved.

Hoffenheim broke menacingly in the opening seconds of the second half, a low cross from Belfodil flying across the area before Florian Grillitsch lashed high from distance.

The toughest challenge would be who to pick in the centre-back pairing, with Aymeric Laporte, Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones and captain Vincent Kompany all vying for a starting position.

Baumann then pulled off a great save to deny Aguero as the keeper managed to race back into position after missing out on Bernardo Silva's cross to hold onto Aguero's header.

However, Silva popped up with the victor to delight City's travelling fans.
