Nokia 7.1 launched with Android One, Snapdragon 636: Price, features, availability

Nokia 7.1 hands-on: A $350 success story

HMD Global on Thursday announced the latest addition to its smartphone portfolio in the form of the Nokia 7.1, a feature-packed mid-ranger that offers a wide variety of functionalities and capable hardware at an extremely affordable price. Because of this, we have to assume Pie will come shortly after the launch of this phone, and since it is an Android One device, rest assured that it will come in a timely manner. Also, like it or not, there's a notch display.

Nokia 6.1 Plus runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo, and sports a 5.8-inch full-HD+ (1080x2280 pixels) display that's protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The PureDisplay technology of the Nokia 7.1 allows you to enjoy HDR content on the phone from streaming providers like YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime thanks to the support for HDR10 standard.

Nokia Mobile is now in the top five of Android smartphone manufacturers and it's no wonder; the phones are great.

The first smartphone under HMD's portfolio to receive the Android 9 Pie update is Nokia 7 Plus.

While the Nokia 7.1's specifications may not give a Galaxy S9 or LG V40 ThinQ sleepless nights, on paper at least, HMD is counting on smarter camera tech to give the phone an edge.

In terms of photography, the Nokia 7.1 features a 12MP f/1.8 camera and 5MP f/2.4 depth sensor together with ZEISS optics on its rear. Portrait mode can also live-adjust Bokeh intensity - in back through the dual cameras, and up-front via AI algorithms. However as usual with such buds, the pocketable charging case is also a battery pack, topping up the earbuds when you don't need them, for around 16 hours more listening time in total. There's a 3060mAh battery included, and HMD says that you can get 50 percent of your battery back in 30 minutes using USB-C fast charging.

The phone, like most of the other phones in the Nokia smartphone lineup, is in Google's Android One program, which guarantees it'll keep getting OS updates for two years.

Yes, it's coming to the U.S. The Nokia 7.1 also comes with real time SDR to HDR conversion pipeline for better media viewing experience.

The Nokia 7.1 will open for preorders on October 5th in Europe and the United Kingdom, where it will be priced from £299. The base model of the handset that won't be sold in the USA will start at €319 in Europe, whereas the more powerful one should feature a €349 price tag.

Talking about the pricing, the Nokia 7.1 has been priced at €299 (~Rs 25,400) or €349 (~Rs 29,700), depending on the region for the base 3GB model, while the price of the 4GB variant hasn't been revealed yet.
