China denies spying on Trump’s phone, suggests he use Huawei

During a briefing in Beijing, Hua Chunying, a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, said that if there are security concerns, Trump could switch to a phone made by Huawei, a Chinese company, or cut off communications altogether.

Trump has been told numerous times that he should use the White House landline, according to a report which was published by the New York Times Wednesday, but he hasn't heeded the warnings. "If they (Trump administration) are anxious about Apple phones being listened in on, they should swap them with Huawei phones", Hua said She was referring to one of China's largest telecommunications firms, which has been largely blocked from the U.S. market over national security concerns.

Hua's remarks about President Trump potentially using a Huawei smartphone come after Australia, India, and the United States have banned Huawei from supplying their respective governments with technology, while Canada and the UK are also mulling similar bans.

"Chinese spies are often listening to these phone calls and putting to use invaluable insights into how to best work the president and affect administration policy", the NYT said, referring specifically to the cell phone used by the president to call his friends. "I only use Government Phones, and have only one seldom used government cell phone", he wrote.

They also claimed that there are concerns Russian agencies were also among those listening to Mr Trump's calls. He noted in the tweet that he only uses government cell phone.

Despite the furor surrounding former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's handling of her emails during her time in the Obama administration, Congress and conservatives more broadly seem to have little interest in President Donald Trump's demonstrated inability to follow basic cybersecurity measures to protect his and the government's sensitive information.

Trump called the Times report "soooo wrong!" in a tweet Thursday.

Mr Trump called The Times report incorrect and dismissed it as "long and boring".

Russian Federation and China are thought to be eavesdropping on Mr Trump.

One official told the Times that China wants Trump to meet with President Xi Jinping as often as possible, in hopes that a strong personal relationship between the leaders will end the trade tensions between their countries. The Chinese, for example, have put together a list of President Trump's friends and are hoping to influence him through these trusted sources. "All in all, we, by this time, are treating such material with humor".

"Trump makes Hillary Clinton look pristine on secret-keeping", she said.

USA intelligence agents say - according to The Times - that Trump takes electronic security very lightly and does not limit his communications to secure devices that he has access to as president.
