Samsung officially teases folding smartphone on Facebook

This Company Just Beat Samsung with The World’s 1st Foldable Smartphone Karlie Powell

After what seems the better part of a half-a-decade of unofficial rumours, Samsung has started to tease its long in development foldable display smartphone.

Koh added that the company was "focusing on developing innovations that will be genuinely accepted and liked by consumers" for the foldable phones. Apparently this is a necessary step given how the foldable phone is still a "a completely new concept in terms of design and user experience". The company is launching a developer program to incentivize third-party app makers, but I'm extremely skeptical that they'll get many to buy in. From the totals cited, it appears that only 100,000 units will be made a month, which is much lower than the millions of Galaxy S devices the company manufactures a year. It would be interesting to see the features offered by the Samsung's foldable smartphone and after all the hype which the tech giant has created, we expect something exciting from the company.

It will allow users to perform complex tasks that are usually done on a tablet or laptop.

The foldable phone will go on sale as a consumer device in China, but for now is only available as a developer model in the United States from December. Naturally, there has been no hint of a price tag, but you can guarantee that buying the foldable phone will not be something that your wallet will thank you for. Similarly, LG is also in the race of flexible devices. Just look what happened to Windows Phone.

Interestingly, detailed images are also expected to surface at the preview events of the Foldable device for the first time. Despite all the unfulfilled Project Valley and Galaxy X rumors of previous years, it's hard not to feel a little excitement for what Samsung might unveil later this week at its developer conference in San Francisco. Samsung wants to churn out some profit from the new product as they have tumbled 3X in mid-range products category across the globe this year. Would you sport a foldable smartphone?
