Trump denies claims that video of clash with CNN reporter was doctored

Sanders tweeted a video, which later was revealed to have been doctored to appear worse, showing Acosta apparently swatting away the female intern when she tried to take his microphone away.

But White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders claimed that Acosta had "placed his hands" on an intern who had attempted to take the microphone away from him.

President Trump escalated his war with the media on Friday, telling one reporter, "You ask a lot of stupid questions", calling another "a loser" - and threatening to yank White House credentials from other reporters if they don't show him "great respect".

In response to Sanders' statement about why his pass had been revoked, Acosta tweeted simply, "This is a lie".

The heated exchange began after Acosta clung to the microphone and persisted with questions about the president's repeated and angry denunciation of a caravan of poor Central American migrants making their way through Mexico to the USA border.

Despite losing his White House pass, Mr Acosta travelled to Paris to cover Mr Trump's trip to meet world leaders. "But she's very nasty".

During a brief media availability outside the White House, the president gave more fodder to fans who enjoy watching him scrap with journalists.

A confrontational exchange was seen during a press conference on Wednesday between Trump and Acosta while discussing the results of the midterm elections.

President Donald Trump continued to verbally attack journalists covering the White House during a Friday chat with the press on the lawn of the White House. The channel said the revocation "was done in retaliation for his [Acosta] challenging questions". "You shouldn't be working for CNN", he said.

In a later tweet, Sanders said the White House stood by its decision.

"You released a doctored video - actual fake news", Dornic tweeted. "Ask tough questions, avoid making statements or arguing during a press event and report the news, don't become the news". He gets paid to do that, you know he gets paid to burst in. "I will continue to ask the questions that affect America, all of America".

"The question is: Did the reporter make contact or not?"

In Mr Sessions' place is a Trump loyalist who has written in criticism of the special counsel investigation of the president and his campaign's ties to Russian Federation. Trump's insults "are nothing new". She gets publicity, and then she gets a pay raise or she gets a contract with, I think, CNN. President Trump has given the press more access than any President in history. "You know, that was incidental contact and I think that was a false reason for pulling his pass", Fleischer said before insisting that the White House was right to revoke Acosta's pass for other reasons.
