Elon Musk plans to build a global Internet

This constellation of 11,943 satellites- weighing between 220 and 1,100 pounds- will form the expansive Starlink broadband network.

The FCC issued a statement on Thursday and said that Space-X has been authorized to launch 7518 Satellite.

Using optical inter-satellite links and on-board processing and operating in polar orbits at an altitude five times closer to the Earth than medium earth orbit satellites and 25 times closer than geostationary orbit ("GSO") satellites, the LeoSat System offers numerous advantages with respect to high throughput, low latency, and full global coverage.

Alan Musk's company Space-X will install 12,000 satellites in the orbit of the Earth in the next nine years.

Elon Musk's SpaceX won permission to deploy more than 7,000 satellites, far more than all operating spacecraft now aloft, from USA regulators who also moved to reduce a growing risk from space debris as skies grow more crowded.

The FCC has also promised to streamline its satellite licensing rules, creating a single license for space stations and related earth stations to eliminate redundancies in the two separate licensing processes.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk really wants to launch these satellites, and soon: Just last month, he fired a number of managers over what he deemed as too-slow progress on the project, Reuters reported.

"It will offer high-speed internet in remote areas and global connectivity through "routers in space" for data backhaul".

"Our approach to these applications reflects this commission's fundamental approach to encourage the private sector to invest and to innovate and allow market forces to deliver value to American consumers".

The different orbital altitudes are meant to provide a mix of wide-angle and tightly focused transmission beams for global broadband access.

For the batch of 7,518 satellites, SpaceX asked the FCC to apply the six-year milestone only to an initial deployment of 1,600 satellites.

The agency on a 4-0 vote advanced rules to require more calculations to demonstrate a planned spacecraft poses a minimal risk of collisions, and to minimize new orbiting debris - for instance, from devices that remain aloft after releasing a satellite. But the FCC denied the request, saying that "SpaceX has not provided sufficient grounds for a waiver of the Commission's final implementation milestone requirement". The company is planning to launch the first 4,425 satellites into the low-orbit of Earth, helping it to cut down on the latency.

FCC Chairman, Ajit Pai said, "I'm excited to see what these services might promise and what these proposed constellations have to offer". Since then, eight thousand objects have been sent to the world in space since then.
