Trump appears to snub high-fiving Putin and Saudi prince

Saudi Crown Prince receives 'firm message' on Khashoggi probe at G20 summit

On October 2, Khashoggi was last seen entering a Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

In the video, the Saudi prince can be heard telling the French president "Don't worry", to which he replies, "I am anxious".

The young Saudi prince's political future is still being haunted by the consequences of the gruesome murder of dissident Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul some two months ago.

Vladimir Putin and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman embraced each other like long lost brothers at the G20 summit today.

As world leaders get down to business at the G20 in Buenos Aires, tensions over trade, security and climate change already threaten to leave it the third such multilateral meeting this year to fail to agree a joint communiqué, following in the footsteps of the G7 and APEC summits.

Macri has said accusations that Prince Mohammed was involved in Khashoggi's death could be discussed by world leaders during the two-day summit.

"No, I will listen, of course", bin Salman replies, prior to bursting into laughter.

French President Emmanuel Macron has told Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that Europe will insist on global experts being part of the investigation into the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Macron, undeterred and continuing on with the conversation, later says, "I'm a man of my word". But the crown prince's reputation has taken a turn after the murder of Khashoggi in Turkey.

An official from Macron's office said the meeting with bin Salman was necessary, as European nations wished to send a united message about the need for honesty in the investigation and were not going to sidestep an opportunity to reinforce that message during the G20 summit.

Proposed US congressional legislation on Yemen, even if passed, is unlikely to impact on Saudi Arabia's ability to pursue the war in Yemen due to available Egyptian, Emerati, and Israeli support.

"They exchanged pleasantries at the leaders' session as he did with almost every leader in attendance", a senior White House official said.

Yesterday Mr Trump cancelled a planned sit down with Mr Putin, citing Russia's recent seizure of Ukrainian ships and sailors. The prince also has U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May on his list after what appeared to be something of a talking to from Macron when the two briefly interacted earlier Friday.

Prince Mohammed also met Chinese president Xi Jinping on the summit sidelines, the Saudi Press Agency said on Twitter.

"It only wasn't set up", the president told reporters Thursday.
