LONGMIRE SHOWCASING AN EXPANDED SECOND SEASON

A&E’s acclaimed Western mystery series Longmire is currently running an expanded second season. The initial year of the series, which launched in 2012, ran 10 episodes – Longmire has now been expanded to 13 installments in Season 2.

Based upon the popular novel series by Craig Johnson, the series stars Robert Taylor as Walt Longmire, a present-day Wyoming sheriff in the fictional county of Absaroka. Johnson himself is a former law enforcement officer. Taylor leads a strong ensemble cast that includes actors Lou Diamond Phillips, Katee Sackhoff, Bailey Chase, Adam Bartley and Cassidy Freeman.

As a contemporary Western (i.e. one set in the time it is made), Longmire has integrated a number of current issues into its story-lines – those issues have ranged from Indigenous treaty rights to environmental activism to the controversial process of oil and gas fracking.

The next episode (#11 of Season 2) of Longmire, entitled “Natural Order”, airs tonight, August 12th, at 10pm(EST)/9pm(CST). The final episode of the second season airs on August 26th.
