Following its world premiere September 16th at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the Western Forsaken now moves to the ongoing Cinéfest in Sudbury, Ontario. Real-life father and son, Donald and Kiefer Sutherland, play father and son in the Alberta-shot film. Directed by Jon Cassar, Kiefer Sutherland is John Henry Clayton, a gunslinger trying to leave his reputation behind.
After service in the Civil War, John Henry returns to his Wyoming hometown in 1872 and seeks reconciliation with his now-widowed father, the Reverend William Clayton (Donald Sutherland). John Henry’s resolve to leave violence behind will be tested by would-be tycoon James McCurdy (Brian Cox). McCurdy is trying to drive local farmers from their land in order to re-sell the properties to the oncoming railroad. Forsaken also stars Demi Moore, Michael Wincott, Aaron Poole, and Siobhan Williams. Moore plays a former love of John Henry’s, while Wincott and Poole play gunmen working for the ruthless businessman.
