The producers of the upcoming – and highly-anticipated – Western film, The Hateful Eight (2015), have released a 7-plus minute featurette in advance of its December 25th premiere. Building on the success of his 2012 Django Unchained, director Quentin Tarantino’s second Western film will be screened in 70mm in approximately 100 cinemas. An additional difference from the general release digital version in January is that the 70mm screenings will be delivered in a “roadshow”-style – this format involves a musical overture and intermission. Hosted by one of the film’s stars, Samuel L. Jackson, the featurette explores the above and additional aspects further:
The Hateful Eight takes place during a Wyoming winter in the post-Civil War years. Kurt Russell stars as a bounty hunter bringing a female fugitive, played by Jennifer Jason Leigh, to trial. Travelling by stagecoach, they meet up with another bounty hunter (Samuel L. Jackson) and a man (Walton Goggins) who says he is the sheriff of the town to which Russell is headed. A winter blizzard then forces this group to take shelter at a stagecoach station in which four other men, unknown to at least Russell, are also waiting out the snowstorm. As this second trailer for the film demonstrates, suspicion, tension and violence follow:
