A new railroad-themed board game allows players to “Go West” in the 19th Century as they attempt to build a rail empire. Railroad Revolution (2016), released by What’s Your Game, features board-locations that include Denver (Colorado), Salt Lake City (Utah), and El Paso (Texas).
Designed for 2 to 4 players and with an estimated 45-90 minute playing-time, would-be tycoons manage their own rail company, with the goal of creating the top railroad in America. Game-play involves building track, creating stations between cities that you connect, and even establishing a telegraph system along your rail network. Beginning with a crew of workers, players have to carefully strategize when to hire skilled employees and when to move workers into management roles. As priorities within the game shift, the timing of decisions – which workers need to act & when – determines success.
The rail-based game is currently averaging a 7.7 rating on the website boardgamegeek.com. Official information from What’s Your Game, which includes rules & downloads, can be found at Railroad Revolution.
